In contrast, an antique desk sits happily in the study area, and in other rooms modern and antique furniture have been effectively combined.

Cushions in black, red, orange and yellow scattered over the sofas in the living room and study add bright splashes of color to these areas. Sheer panels of white curtaining hung on rails at all the picture windows, let in a soft light which enhances the furnishings.

The girls' bedroom has a less austere appearance, with practical features such as a wall completely covered with shelves, pinboard panels, and a large wardrobe. A steel and glass trestle table acts as a desk, and the curtains are in sage green.

An unusual but very effective color scheme was chosen for the small television room.

The walls are finished in dark blue gloss paint which matches the carpet, and all the paintwork is picked out in white. A sage green sofa is scattered with dark blue and white cushions to complete the scheme. Two specially made white lacquered cupboards were designed for this room. One holds glasses, bottles and a tele vision set; the other is fitted with a radio, record player and refrigerator. Modern steel and glass furniture adds a crisp bright appearance to this room.

French windows lead out from here on to a small terrace, with its view over the rooftops of Milan. Covered with rampant plants, it has an atmosphere of freshness and tranquility that is rare in the centre of a large city. Enameled steel chairs covered in green and white printed fabric blend in well with the surroundings.
