California Contractor License Application

While submitting an application for a contractor's license from the state of California, the customary formalities have to be completed.

The application for a California Contractor's license should include a form to describe and substantiate the work experience of the applicant. This must be included while presenting an application for an original contractor's license, additional classification or application for replacing the qualifying individual, if the knowledge or expertise one claims is from owner builder work.

This form is used over and above the Certification of Work Experience enclosed with the submission or application. One form is obligatory for each concluded construction project. This application for an original contractor's license is to be utilized for a 7065 waiver only in case the individual is the only owner requesting for a corporate license. Section 7065 of the Contractors License Law mentions "No examination shall be required of a qualifying individual if, within the five-year period immediately preceding the application for licensure, the qualifying individual has either personally passed the written examination for the same classification being applied for, or has served as the qualifying individual for a licensee whose license was in good standing at any time during the five-year period immediately preceding the application for licensure and in the same classification being applied for."

The application for additional classification in California is used for accumulating classifications to a prevailing license. One can insert any classification to an offered license for which one has qualifying experience and has passed the appropriate examination.
