Shank Types Smooth: (shown top right) Smooth-shank nails are available in a wide range of lengths and shank diameters for light, standard, and heavy-duty applications. Smooth shank nails provide excellent holding power in most wood applications and are available with round heads, modified D-heads, or duplex heads for applications that require easy removal of the nail. Ring: (shown middle right) Ring-shank nails offer superior holding power in softwood applications and are excellent for crating and container construction where fastened joints are subject to lateral stress. Screw: (shown bottom right) Excellent for hardwood applications, such as pallets. Screw-shank nails provide greater maximum withdrawal loads than smooth-shank nails. Home • • |
