Not only does it show the regular rug shapes such as oval, round and rectangular, it also explains the steps for creating more complex rugs. This book is an excellent teaching tool and has been used by teachers, craft groups and individuals for the since its first appearance some 35 years ago. About the Author Verna Cox has been teaching students and creating braided rugs for the past 40 years. Her rugs and methods have appeared at the Smithsonian Institution, National 4-H Building, numerous craft fairs and museums. She has also appeared on National TV, as well as local and Public Television Stations. Articals have also been published in at least 12 magazines including Woman's Day, Country Woman, Country Decorating, Country Almanac, Family Circle, Downeast as well as newspapers throughout the Northeast. Not only the best, but the ONLY book you will ever need -- I have been using Verna's book and videos for the past 4 years and find them to be EXTREMELY easy to follow. I have braided many rugs following her helpful instruction. In my opinion her book and her videos are ALL you will ever need to braid beautiful rugs that will last a lifetime. Not for the absolute beginner -- I found it impossible to understand from a beginner's point of view. There are no logical explanations of things like what fabrics can be used, how the strips should be made, etc. It seems to me that this book is aimed at those who already have an understanding of how braided rugs are made. The language and instructions are not clear and the hand-drawn illustrations don't help. I'd suggest checking out other books. Reviews: Verna is as good as ever! -- Verna Cox is the best! Her rugs are just gorgeous and her style is easy to follow. Enjoy this wonderful book! |
