Essential reference book -- At last! A new 'user friendly' book about oriental carpets. I think this very informative book full of information will be appreciated by anyone interested in oriental carpets- interior decorators/collectors/students-and anyone thinking of purchasing a carpet for their home. Excellent photographs, price guidelines,and tips for care and repair.
Reference book on Contemporary carpets -- This book is an excellent addition to any one interested to find out what the contemporary rug market has to offer. It gives a very comprehensive review of different types of design. Anyone interested to purchase a new rug can easily use the book. It is especially recommended for interior designers.
Interesting but not helpful enough -- The book is mostly full of beautiful pictures of rugs of all ages. Most, however, are higher end and not the market I can afford to be interested in. I had been hoping the book would at least comment on the (quality of the) thousands of rugs being sold on ebay each day for hundreds (not thousands) of dollars. I had been also hoping for more background information regarding the various types of rugs, but there was little. I am seeking a more comprehensive text than this, I think.
